The Feldenkrais Method:

Awareness through Movement / Functional Integration

Optimizing the possible on the way to physical and mental elegance.

Edgar Lück BA lives and works in Cologne as a freelance writer and
painter. He has completed a professional training program in the
Feldenkrais Method for four years and has been teaching it since 1987.
Edgar Lück sees his work in this area as a tool not only for personality
development but also in the support of creativity.

Using gentle movement and easy exercises the Feldenkrais Method teaches
how to let go of muscular tension and self hindering habits.
A better feeling for the body is built up, making it possible not only
to alleviate and rid the body of pain and tension but also to learn how
to move so that pain cannot develop.

ATM
"Awareness through Movement"
The method is taught orally either singly or in a group.
The exercises are then practised in a relaxed way, mostly lying
on the floor but sometimes sitting or standing.

FI
"Functional Integration" Here a non-verbal dialogue takes place
between the student and the Feldenkrais teacher in order to achieve pain
free, harmonious and organic movement and an improved self- awareness
of the body.

Both "Awareness through Movement" and "Functional Integration"
help develop physical and mental well-being.
They have a positive influence on stress and support individual development.

Moshé Feldenkrais,
Born in Russia in1904, physicist and physiologist.
Feldenkrais developed his method of self-improvement through playful
exercise in order to alleviate his own physical problems. Elegance,
lightness and a feeling of well-being were the criteria he used.
The understanding and practise of Feldenkrais exercises can help overcome
such problems as headaches, neck and back pain.
The movements not only reduce stress but also stimulate creativity,
bringing more clarity and peace to daily life.
The method is also useful at work, especially for those who work in sitting
and it has been shown to improve movement during sports activities.
The Feldenkrais Method aids during exams and pregnancy and keeps the ageing mobile. It allows dancers, artists and musicians to become more aware, spontaneous and elegant.
